Convicted Drivers Car Insurance Offers
Over the last 10 years we have seen the emergence of a new sector in the car insurance market, the market for drivers with convictions on their record, whether this be a criminal conviction, ‘joy riding’, speeding or other driving offences. This can often be a very controversial area of the car insurance market, but under the headlines there are many people who do suffer for things they may have done years ago when they were younger.
The bottom line is the fact that the insurance industry is a business which is based upon cold hard risks. The only way in which they can arrive at a standard across the sector is to strip out the reasons for such offences and convictions and just calculate the relevant risk associated with the persons age, the offence, etc. The increase in the number of speed detection systems around the UK has led to an increase in the number of penalty points dished out.
Despite a number of reminders from the UK car insurance industry many car drivers in the UK are still not informing their insurance companies of these offences and penalty points. There is a serious risk that those who are not totally honest with their car insurance provider may well see their cover cancelled in extreme situations. Third party fire and theft, third party and full comprehensive cover are still available to convicted drivers, but the costs can vary dramatically.

The History Of Convicted Drivers Insurance
Even though there has always been a service available for those who carry more risk than normal, for one reason or another, it is only over the last few years that we have seen the creation of a focused sub-sector of the car insurance market. It is a market which does not receive an awful lot of exposure in the popular press because it can be seen as a little controversial in some areas of society.
However, there are many cases where people seem to be paying for their actions in the past for many years. While there are obvious risks that someone may re-offend, it really depends upon the nature, severity and chances of reoccurrence as to what premiums will be charged – and in some cases whether a quote will be provided at all. In the vast majority of cases a quote would be provided although the level of premiums would vary on a case by case basis. It may be that some of the more serious offences, or even those who offend regularly with regard to so called “lesser offences”, may not be able to afford the premiums, but there has been a definite reduction in insurance costs over the years in the sector.
Competition is all that is required to see insurers cut their premiums, and profit margins, something which we are seeing more and more of in this sector. It will never be a sector which receives the full glare of public attention, or is widely advertised in the press, but there is a sizeable array of insurers looking to become more heavily involved.
Convicted Drivers Car Insurance Providers
As you would expect with a sector which involves the sale of a financial service / product, there is a fair amount of cross selling of home insurance, travel insurance, pet insurance and other insurance products. While perhaps this is not one of the higher volume ends of the market, there are still marketing options available.
While as we say this is not the most promoted of sectors, the likes of Norwich Union insurance (www.norwichunion.com), MoreThan insurance (www.morethaninsurance.com), and Churchill Insurance (www.churchillinsurance) are active in this market.
